Ce matin, avant de quitter l'Ile du Mont-Désert dans le Maine, où nous avons passé hier une journée parfaite entre Océan et forêts, nous sommes allés à Somesville, le village où Marguerite Yourcenar avait choisi de vivre et d'écrire.
S'il ne nous a pas été possible d'apercevoir sa maison, nous avons été conduits, par une charmante dame jusqu'à l'endroit où ses cendres, à sa demande ont été déposées : le cimetière de Somesville.
Je ne dirais pas qu'on en rêve, mais connaissez-vous plus bel endroit pour passer son éternité ?

Your latest post with the pictures of the fantastic Autumn foliage are beautiful, although I have to say that I had never heard of the French author Marguerite Yourcenar before.
I just love the words on the memorial plaque that you showed in your first image:
Marguerite Yourcenar's funeral plate. The epitaph, written in French, is from The Abyss: «Plaise à Celui qui Est peut-être de dilater le coeur de l'homme à la mesure de toute la vie.», which can be translated to "May it please the One who perchance is to expand the human heart to life's full measure."

un lieu comme celui ci c'est pour moi le comble de la sérénité et de la proximité avec la nature, Après avoir lu la bio sur M Yourcenar cela donne très envie de voir les lieux

Cette femme est pour moi une énigme. Elle a bravé de nombreux interdits mais est restée silencieuse là où j'aurais aimé l'entendre.
